Clearer is the commerce grounding and action layer for modern merchandising.
It unifies your catalog, UGC, and shopper behavior through MCP connections—transforming data into structured brand truth and one-click actions that drive discovery and sales.

This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store.

Personal Information the App Collects

Read_Products
This permission includes access to product and collection data. We use it to sync catalog information between your Shopify store and our app for search, merchandising, and personalization features.

Read_Orders
This permission includes order details (). We use this data to power analytics and merchandising insights (e.g., calculating product performance and revenue).
() Customer personal information is excluded during our webhook processing. No customer personal data is stored in our databases.

Read_Customers
This permission is used to analyze aggregated customer behavior for personalization and segmentation purposes. Only non-personally identifiable data (e.g., tags, purchase frequency, order count) is processed. All personal identifiers are anonymized.

Read_Content
This permission allows us to index store content (pages, blogs) to enhance the store-wide search experience.

Read_Themes, Write_Themes
We use this permission to read and modify theme information as part of the automatic app installation process, ensuring widgets and personalization components display correctly.

Read_Script_Tags, Write_Script_Tags
This permission allows us to insert and manage scripts necessary for Clearer.io widgets, analytics, and personalization features.

Additionally, we collect limited information from you and your customers once you have installed the App:

  • Information about you and other authorized users accessing the App (email address, encrypted in database).
  • Information about store visitors such as IP address (***), web browser details, time zone, and date/time stamps.

We collect this data through your Shopify account or via standard technologies such as:

  • Cookies: data files placed on your device or computer, often including an anonymous unique identifier.
  • Log files: track actions on the site and collect IP address (***), browser, and device details.

(***) The IP address is immediately converted to state and country geolocation and then removed. No IP addresses are stored in our systems.

How Do We Use Your Personal Information?

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the Service.
  • Improve search, merchandising, and personalization experiences.
  • Communicate with you regarding updates, issues, or new features.
  • Optimize and enhance app performance.
  • Comply with legal obligations and platform requirements.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We do not and will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We only share information when necessary to:

  • Enable Shopify integrations and maintain core app functionality.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, subpoenas, or lawful requests.
  • Protect our rights and security.

Your Rights

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information.
You may exercise these rights by contacting us at the email provided below.

We process your data to fulfill our contractual obligations to you (e.g., to provide our Service) or pursue legitimate business interests such as improving our app. Your information may be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Data Retention

  • Merchant store data is retained while the store continues using the app and deleted immediately upon uninstallation.
  • Order webhooks: personal data is stripped out during processing and never stored.
  • Application logs (for performance, monitoring, and security): retained for up to 3 months, with IPs anonymized after geolocation conversion.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to our practices, for operational or legal reasons. Updates will be posted on our app dashboard and Shopify listing.
